I have paused the postbox theme for today as this majestic old vehicle caught my eye. (If there are any motor history buffs out there, perhaps you could tell me if my estimated date, 1954, is correct? I reached it by looking at photos of restored Morris Commercials.)
My interest in a vehicle may have been influenced by the fact that we now have two potentially marooned cars: one in a hotel car park in Dublin and the other, a rental, here on this side of the world. Our car in Dublin is paid up to the third week in April but it does not look as if we will be back there by then. The rental is sitting outside unused but the depot in Nelson is closed and we are not allowed to travel anyway. So who knows what will happen? Let’s hope both companies can be reasonable about not charging for overtime!
It’s just the way things are right now!
Another postbox tomorrow perhaps – but there is another old lorry that caught my eye yesterday… …

Great little motor. I’m no expert but do remember seeing them here in NI., usually as a grocery, delivery “vee-hickle”!
In the early 1950’s I should have said!
Yes, a ve-hickle of a certain generation! Apart from a beautiful patina of rust, this one looked to be in remarkable condition, probably due to the difference in climate here.
It has a quizzical expression.

Great colours in this
